Job Description:
  • This Lead position in Mechanical Engineering will be the main technical lead onsite for the Seabed Systems product lines.
  • The position will be responsible for mechanical design, procurement support, environmental testing, and production support for Seabed Systems.
  • A key part of this role is to work collaboratively across organizational boundaries and ensure programs are smoothly transitioned to production and deployment phases.
  • The successful candidate is an experienced technical and business professional who is able to focus simultaneously on near- and long-term objectives.

Essential Functions:
  • Technical leadership of the Mechanical Engineering team throughout the full program lifecycle including design, development, manufacturing, formal hardware qualification, integration and test, transition to production, and production support.
  • Provide guidance and support to achieve project goals including participation in major design and milestone reviews, technical meetings, and project planning sessions
  • Is a requirements-driven design engineer.
  • Provide inputs to EVMS reporting regarding monthly progress and estimates to completion based on quantifiable backup data.
  • Develop mechanical technical approaches for future proposals.
  • Participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) initiatives.
  • Travel up to 10% to vendor or manufacturing facilities will be required.

Qualifications:
  • Experience leading a Mechanical Design team
  • Experience with electronics packaging for harsh marine environments
  • Experience with Solidworks and PDM Vault
  • Experience with undersea acoustics/sonar equipment
  • Experience with DFx (Design for Simplicity, Manufacturability, Testability, etc)
  • Experience working with government contracts, requirements, and compliance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Experience with Ansys
  • Familiarity using Jira for engineering metrics
