SUMMARY
Under moderate supervision, performs a variety of routine and complex radiation therapy and radiologic procedures to assist in the treatment of patients.
Participates in equipment quality control, performs peer review, and patient chart evaluations.
In conjunction with the Manager and Chief Therapist, coordinates the daily technical activities and work assignments of the technical staff; orients, trains, and provides technical guidance to the assigned staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs the duties and responsibilities of the Radiation Oncology Technologist.
Demonstrates basic dosimetry knowledge.
Operates all radiation therapy equipment. Maintains inventory and requests supplies as necessary.
Coordinates and monitors the daily activities of the technical staff.
Assigns work and assist the Chief Therapist in supervising the scheduling of radiation therapy procedures according to departmental needs.
Provides technical guidance to staff regarding radiation therapy procedures, equipment operation, etc. Evaluates staff work performance in conjunction with the Manager and Chief Therapist; administers corrective discipline when necessary.
Assumes responsibilities of Chief Therapist in Chief Therapist absence. Oversees radiation therapy students.
Ensures proper maintenance of equipment, and proper record keeping. Monitors equipment operation on a daily basis to ensure proper functioning; reports malfunctions to the Chief Therapist and Physicist. Assists manager with Quality Assurance activities such as gathering data. Conducts chart rounds, prepares peer review, and end of treatment close out of charts, etc. May assist in weekly chart checks on treatment charts, and audits for medical records, proper documentation, and verifies billing.
Identifies training and development opportunities for staff and self.
Orients and trains staff in job duties and departmental policies and procedures.
Reviews training needs of staff and monitors to assure that staff maintains knowledge base and grows in proficiency, including monitoring mandatory training, CPR, etc.
REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Life Support - AHA BLS CPR Card
Registered Radiologic Technologist License in Maryland
Minimum of 3-5 years Radiation Therapist experience
